Achieving change in the built environment sector using the engine of digitalisation requires collaboration between numerous different parties. Smart Built Environment conducts a range of strategic projects within the scope of the programme’s focus areas with the aim of accomplishing this change and contributing to the programme’s goals and desired effects. Broad participation in these projects is very welcome!

Strategic projects are initiated by the Programme Board, which also appoints a process manager. The task of the process manager is to draft a description that acts as a project basis in a particular focus area in collaboration with key stakeholders. This description then forms the basis for open work meetings, whose aim is to concretise which projects need to be implemented and to draft proposals for project descriptions, staffing and co-financing for the projects.

On the basis of the project description, the Programme Board then comes to a decision regarding implementation, staffing and funding. Once the Programme Board has come to a positive decision, projects are submitted to the research funding authorities for a final decision on fund allocation.

After the decision, it is the responsibility of each project manager to carry out the project with the support of the steering committee and to report on progress and final results.
