A shared facility is a facility owned, cared for and used by several properties together, such as roads, heating systems or playgrounds. Information about the facility is managed by the board of a facility association. The facility is often complex and keeping track of information about it is challenging due to extensive manual
information management. The manual management creates problems in terms of low accessibility for information stakeholders and low quality of information. This leads, among other things, to increased costs and difficulties in recruiting board members.

The project aims to solve these problems by enabling digital twins for shared facilities in the form of a database delivered as a digital "cloud service".

With a digital twin, all kinds of relevant information can be stored throughout the life cycle of the facility - fromcreation to operation, change and decommissioning. The information managed in the twin relates to the elements that make up the facility and their status. The information is stored in one place and made available to the facility's various stakeholders, such as the board, property owners and suppliers of goods, services and change operations. Uniquely, the solution includes predefined 'templates' for commonly used facility structures, objects and components. The effects include better control, greater efficiency and higher value for the facility and its associated properties.

The project will identify the most critical information needs and build a prototype for a solution with limited functionality and limited data/information. The solution will be tested and evaluated by information stake holders. The work is conducted in an "agile" and iterative manner in a number of incremental steps. Reuse is made of results from previous SBE-funded projects.

The results of the evaluation will be used to decide on further investment in a commercial service for "community facilities as digital twins".
