Aqvify brings drinking water wells “online” – and provides security, control and knowledge. In Aqvify's app, the user gets both a quick status, as well as history of the well; groundwater level, consumption, level, inflow and alarms. Aqvify enables a sustainable, efficient and safe use of this important and increasingly vulnerable
resource!
Groundwater levels will in the future be even more pressured than they already are due to climate change, with increased concern and increased challenges as a result for, among others, the more than one million Swedes who depend on drinking water wells.
An increasing number of end users in holiday homes, communities, permanent homes, farms and businesses are now requesting connected control of the pump in their wells to be able to automatically turn off (and on) at selected water levels to avoid the well being inadvertently emptied of water. The levels need to be able to be
adjusted according to the characteristics and use of the own well.
There are several risks of using a well to too deep a level:
- A pump that runs dry can be destroyed, with high costs and unnecessary environmental impact (new pump) as a result.
- Risk of saltwater intrusion – especially along the entire coasts of Sweden and all the way between Stockholm and Gothenburg. Saltwater intrusion can take decades to get rid of, if at all, and therefore every well owner's nightmare. A new well may be required, at high cost and with unnecessary environmental impact.
- A local groundwater reservoir that is emptied can affect the water supply of an entire area with many residents.
The project will extend and modify the solution that Aqvify uses today; relay for pump control, custom gateway, as well as modifications in cloud platform and app – and enable a first version for connected control of pumps in drinking water wells. The project is carried out in close collaboration with industry and end users.
For Aqvify, the possibility of relay control for pumps brings a broadening of the product with great fit. It can attract more end customers in Sweden and later in the Nordic region and the EU. The interest of B2B will increase significantly with this product development.
