ESG stands for "Environmental, Social, and Governance" and is a framework for evaluating companies and investments based on their impact on the environment, society, and corporate governance. Previously, ESG was primarily something that large companies and organizations focused on, but today, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in construction and other industries are also expected to consider ESG criteria due to increasing demands from investors, consumers, and regulators emphasizing sustainability and responsibility throughout the value chain. However, SMEs often lack the resources and expertise required to fully manage ESG issues. The "AI Guide for ESG" project addresses part of this problem by lowering the threshold for SME:s in terms of access to and understanding of ESG-related information and processes. This is made possible by providing a free AI-driven website where SMEs with different levels of knowledge and ambition can receive educational support and advice on ESG issues from a Swedish perspective. The educational support is enabled through AI-assisted search. Advisory services are provided by an AI chatbot. The website's technical solution is based on the ongoing project "AI Guide for Circular Offerings" within Smart Built Environment.

Collaboration is done with the cloud service InCheck (developed with support from SBE), where ESG-related requirements are digitally available for customization and use. The project's ambition is to deliver a scalable "proof-of-concept" that both provides free basic support to SMEs and creates sufficient knowledge for SMEs to seek qualified paid advice from Af Wetterstedt Group AB.
